If you or someone you love suffers from an Adderall addiction, youโ€™ve probably begun looking at treatment options. There are so many different options out there, including intensive outpatient treatment, inpatient treatment, detox, and partial hospitalization. To learn more about intensive outpatient programs and how they can benefit Adderall addicts, keep reading.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

Intensive outpatient treatment programs offer the best of both worlds to patients who canโ€™t commit to inpatient treatment. As inpatient treatment requires patients to live in a facility for an extended amount of time, many addicts have responsibilities outside of treatment that wonโ€™t allow them to do so.

IOP allows patients to come and go for their sessions, with sessions usually taking place starting in the morning or afternoon. This allows patients the freedom to continue taking care of their responsibilities outside of treatment. However, IOP is only recommended if patients have a safe, drug-free home they can return to when theyโ€™re not in treatment.

How do Recovering Adderall Addicts Benefit from IOP?

IOP can be beneficial for all types of addicts, even those addicted to Adderall. By participating in IOP as an Adderall addict, you can expect to feel safe knowing that your withdrawal symptoms are being monitored throughout the process. This often makes detox much easier, as anxiety surrounding these symptoms is greatly reduced. However, thatโ€™s not the only benefit.

Intensive Care with Outpatient Benefits

By only holding sessions for half the day (or more), patients are free to use the rest of their free time to maintain responsibilities outside of treatment. That may include working or taking care of children. However, with IOP, patients still get access to intense treatment even though they arenโ€™t at the facility 24/7.

For Adderall addiction, this is incredibly important, as relapse is easy. When patients receive intense treatment that helps them learn coping mechanisms, trigger avoidance, and more, theyโ€™re much less likely to relapse when they leave.

Access to Therapy

One of the biggest benefits of IOP (and all types of treatment) is access to licensed mental health professionals. Patients at IOP facilities gain access to both individual and group therapy throughout their stay. Because Adderall is often used amongst those with co-existing mental health disorders, therapy can be a huge help for these patients.

By addressing underlying mental health conditions like ADHD, depression, and anxiety, patients addicted to Adderall may have an easier time recovering. On top of that, therapy also allows patients to talk about whatโ€™s going on in a safe space with other people who are going through the same thing.

More Affordable than Other Alternatives

One of the huge perks of IOP is its affordability. Inpatient treatment programs are known for being expensive, and for those without insurance, it can seem impossible to pay the fees. IOP allows patients to access the same level of care for half the cost (or less).

By offering affordable care, many more addicts are able to get the help that they need. While some would rather join an inpatient program, being a part of a less expensive IOP is the next best thing.
