Understanding Your Insurance Options for Addiction Treatment

Insurance for addiction treatment can look different depending on your provider and your plan. At Asheville Recovery Center, we work with both national insurance carriers and regional partners to ensure you have access to the care you need. The providers listed above represent many of the major insurers that cover substance use and mental health treatment, but our network is always expanding. Even if your insurance company isn’t listed, you may still be eligible for partial or full coverage through out-of-network benefits.

In-Network Coverage

Being “in-network” means Asheville Recovery Center has a direct contract with your insurance provider. This typically results in lower out-of-pocket costs, smoother billing, and fewer unexpected charges for you or your family. Most of our core programs—including Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and therapy services—are covered by in-network providers. If you see your insurance listed above with the “in-network” label, you can feel confident that many of your treatment costs will be handled directly through your plan.

Out-of-Network Benefits

If your provider is not currently listed as in-network, don’t be discouraged. Many insurance companies still offer out-of-network benefits that can cover a significant portion of treatment costs. While these plans sometimes require higher deductibles or co-payments, our admissions team will advocate on your behalf and explore every possible option to minimize your expenses. For example, UMR clients may fall under out-of-network coverage, but that doesn’t mean treatment isn’t an option.

Why Verification Matters

Insurance for addiction treatment is not one-size-fits-all. Coverage varies widely depending on factors such as your state of residence, the type of plan you hold, and whether or not your employer offers extended behavioral health benefits. This is why we encourage every prospective client to complete a quick insurance verification. Our specialists will handle the call with your provider, outline what’s included in your plan, and give you a transparent estimate of any potential costs.

What to Do If You Don’t See Your Provider

If your insurance provider doesn’t appear on the list above, you may still have options. Asheville Recovery Center regularly adds new providers to our network, and we frequently work with clients whose plans are not displayed here. By filling out the form below, you can request a free and confidential benefits check. Within a short time, our admissions team will confirm your coverage and explain the treatment programs available to you.
