Understanding Treatment

What Is Addiction Treatment?

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, addiction is a chronic, treatable condition that affects the brain and behavior. Effective addiction treatment addresses not just substance use, but the underlying factors that drive it, including trauma, mental health,
relationships, and environment. At Asheville Recovery Center, addiction treatment in Asheville is never one-size-fits-all.
Every client receives a free clinical assessment on their first call and a treatment plan built specifically around their history, needs, and goals. Recovery is possible, and it starts with a single conversation.

Levels of Care & Programs

We offer multiple levels of care so your treatment can match where you are and evolve
as you progress.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Most people who struggle with addiction are also managing an underlying mental health condition. We treat both at the same time: anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and trauma alongside substance use disorder. Treating one without the other rarely leads to lasting recovery, which is why dual diagnosis care is built into every level of our addiction treatment programs.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

FDA-approved medications like Suboxone and Vivitrol, combined with therapy and peer support, significantly improve outcomes for clients recovering from opioid and alcohol addiction. Medication assisted treatment is not a shortcut. It is a clinically proven tool that reduces cravings, prevents relapse, and makes the rest of your treatment more effective.

Long-Term Addiction Treatment

Recovery does not end after 30 days. For clients who need extended support, our long-term addiction treatment programming in Asheville provides continued clinical care and structure well beyond the initial phase of treatment, giving you the time and stability needed to build a foundation for lasting sobriety.
